The Challenge
Jimmy Jazz is a leading apparel retailer known for its trend-driven fashion and strong presence in urban markets across the U.S. - Drupal CMS served both the frontend experience and the backend content management system, enabling Jimmy Jazz to deliver a rich digital shopping experience until JimmyJazz was notified that their legacy order managment system (OMX) was being discontinued. Since the Drupal platform was tightly integrated with OMX for orders and inventory, this created a critical business risk: without a replacement, Jimmy Jazz’s website would no longer function for ecommerce.
Jimmy Jazz needed:
- A fast transition to a stable ecommerce engine to replace OMX.
 - Continued use of Drupal for content, which their marketing team was deeply familiar with.
 - A seamless customer experience during the transition with no disruption to sales.
 - A solution that could be implemented on an exceptionally accelerated timeline.

The Solution
avatartechnics architected and launched a new headless ecommerce solution in record time, combining Drupal and Shopify:- Drupal as the headless CMS – continuing as the central hub for editorial content, promotions, campaigns, and brand storytelling.
 - Shopify as the ecommerce engine – taking over all product catalog, cart, and checkout functions, ensuring stability and scalability.

To deliver this under extreme time pressure, we developed several key technical integrations:
- Data synchronization – Product ID, Variant ID (SKU), and Inventory ID were mapped and kept consistent across platforms
 - Custom category mapping – Product categorie were structured to match Jimmy Jazz’s navigation, with support for multi-category products
 - Checkout optimization – Spreedly Express.js handled secure tokenization, while Shopify’s Storefront API powered checkout completion
 - Inventory feed automation – Drupal feeds kept Shopify’s catalog synchronized with real-time stock
 - Loyalty and promotions – Shopify supported universal coupons while Drupal generated one-time loyalty codes, which were passed as custom attributes to integrate with Antavo Loyalty Hub
 - Custom order attributes – Attributes such as Loyalty Member ID and “signature required” shipping flags were stored in Shopify orders for more precise fulfillment
 - Legacy migration adjustments – OMX-specific scripts were replaced with custom pricing logic while customer order history and profiles were preserved.
 - Third-party services – Riskified and TaxJar integrations were retained to ensure fraud prevention and tax compliance

Results & Impact
The Results
The new platform delivered immediate value:
- Critical business continuity – The risk of ecommerce shutdown due to OMX discontinuation was completely mitigated.
 - Launched in record time – The transition from planning to live deployment was completed in an exceptionally short timeframe of 10-weeks, underscoring avatar’s ability to execute under pressure.
 - Stronger content + commerce alignment – Drupal continued to empower marketing teams, while Shopify provided operational stability and scalability.
 - Seamless customer experience – Shoppers experienced no disruption, enjoying a consistent and reliable checkout process throughout the migration.
